This project consisted on the manufacturing and assemblage of the structure of the snail shaped stairwell at the entrance to the offices of the Elaia’s Olive Press, Marmelo Estate, in Ferreira do Alentejo.

In the first phase, a trussed structure was assembled in order to support the staircase which includes the passageway. Subsequently, the staircase was assembled, the blacksmith finish, paint and rubber cladding was applied to the floors.

O FELIZ was responsible for the stability design, where it only existed the beautifully shaped curve designed by Architect Bak Gordoon. The structure is composed by a metallic profile in girder which was placed below the steps and which accompanies the staircase from its foundation up to the first level. The metallic barriers are in ‘O FELIZ’ metal sheet. Due to the lack of resistance of the 1st level slab, it was necessary to reinforce it with a metallic truss.

Due to the large dimensions of the stairwell structure, which thus presented difficulties to its transport and placement, it had to be divided into 3 parts that were merged on site.
